STATE OF MANKIND
Mankind disobeyed in the Garden thereby bringing both spiritual and physical death to the world and God’s condemnation and wrath to all people as well. (Romans 5:12-19).
Mankind is by both nature and choice sinful and unable to make ourselves right in the eyes of God (Romans 7:14-24) and since we cannot make ourselves right in the eyes of God we need someone who can make us right in God’s eyes, and that is Jesus Christ and what he accomplished for us on the cross of Calvary (Roman 3:20-26 & Col 2:9-15)
SALVATION AND REGENERATION
God loves us so he provided a different way to be saved other than through obedience to a set of laws (Romans 3:20-22). We are saved by God’s Grace through our faith in Christ’s completed work on the Cross (Eph 2:4- 10, Col 2:13-15). Having been justified though our faith in Christ’s sacrifice for us we then become new creatures in Christ. (2 Cor 5:17). The newborn Christian then begins a lifetime walk with Jesus, a process of becoming more and more Christ like. This sanctification process is not accomplished under our own power any more than our justification was. It is by God’s Grace as well (Phil 3:3-14)
The church the body of believers comprises of all those who have been called out of the world by the Spirit of God and have saving faith in the completed work of Jesus (1 Cor 1:2). It is the Body of Christ on earth, (Eph 5:23) established to encourage, instruct and, if necessary discipline believers in their walk with Christ (Phil 2 although the term “church” is not used in this passage, Paul is without question speaking to the purpose of the church)
THE MISSION OF THE CHURCH
The mission of the church was outline by our Lord Jesus in the Great Commission. Matt 28:19-20. We are to Make disciples, baptize them in the Name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit and teach them to obey all Christ’s commands until he comes again
Evangelism is the responsibility of every believer and the means by which we are to evangelize was laid out for us by our Lord. (John 13:34-35). We cannot “win” anyone to Christ. All we can do is point the way, show our love for one another, preach and teach the gospel and wait on God to bring in the harvest. (Matt 9:37-38)
We believe in the second coming of Christ which will be personal and visible. (Acts 1:9-11, 1 Thess 4:13-18, Rev 19:11-16)
That Heaven and hell are real places, in which we will spend eternity.
Those that have accepted the blood atonement of Christ will spend eternity in heaven, those who have rejected Jesus will spend eternity under God’s wrath in hell. (Rev 21:1-8).
Judgement. The scripture makes it very clear that each one of us must stand before the Almighty and give an account of ourselves on the day of Judgement. (2 Cor 5:10; John 5:24-29) Those who trust in Jesus and his completed work on the cross will be granted eternal life; those who reject the son will remain under God’s wrath and will suffer eternal punishment in hell.
We are a friendly church with a worship style that blends old and new elements. When you arrive on a Sunday morning for worship you are likely to find people greeting one another and mingling together. During our worship service we use a combination of hymns and contemporary worship songs, led by our church choir and guitars and piano.
Each Sunday we spend time sharing congregational prayers together and offering them to God. About half of our service is given over to the sermon, which most often focuses in on a close look at a particular text of the Bible, seeking to relate it to the Bible's message as a whole and to our lives as Christians in the world.
Our Church Covenant
Having been led by the Spirit to profess our faith in Jesus Christ, and having been baptized in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit, we do now solemnly and joyfully affirm our covenant with God and with each other.
We pledge to serve Christ in the fellowship of this church. We shall endeavour to love one another, to remember one another in prayer, to share each other's joys, and to sustain each other in times of distress. We aspire to be a fellowship of the concerned, where the lost may find Jesus Christ., sinners may find pardon, seekers may find meaning for their lives, and where all who come may find welcome. We shall strive to be responsible church members through faithful attendance, study and giving.
We shall seek to be obedient to Christ in our daily living. Within our homes, in our labour, and while at leisure, we shall strive for attitudes and actions which will reflect God's Spirit working through us. Believing that our bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, we shall endeavour to avoid experiences and habits which defile the body and hinder our witness.
Bound together in a fellowship of faith with all who confess Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour, we shall pray and labour for a spirit of unity among all Christians.
Believing that our call to be a church is a call to witness in the world, we dedicate ourselves anew as servants of the Lord of all life. Whenever men are in bondage to ignorance, poverty, fear, or prejudice, we shall strive for justice, freedom, dignity and peace. Whenever men are separated by barriers of hostility and distrust, we shall be ministers of God's reconciling love. As we pledge our support to the work of our missionaries throughout the world, we commit ourselves to the mission to which God calls us all.
Acknowledging our human frailties and ever seeking forgiveness, we profess our need of the Holy Spirit, and commit our lives to Jesus Christ, and through Him to the care, the judgement, the deliverance, and the mercy of Almighty God.
